HOW DOES THE
ALL IN PROGRAM WORK?
Campuses that join the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge complete a set of action items, with the support of ALL IN staff, to institutionalize nonpartisan civic learning, voter engagement, and ongoing engagement in our democracy at their institution.
Join the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge
Select a primary contact person and complete the online form to have your campus join ALL IN. Any campus administrator or faculty member may serve as the primary contact; students may not serve in this role. We suggest that before committing your campus, you receive approval from the appropriate individual, office, or department.
Establish and Institutionalize a Campus-Wide Voting Coalition
Convene a nonpartisan campus-wide committee that includes members from all important stakeholder groups, including academic affairs, student affairs, faculty, senior administration, and the student body.
Develop And Implement A Nonpartisan Campus Action Plan
Document a nonpartisan action plan that describes your institution’s strategy to increase student voting rates and help students form the habits of active and engaged citizenship. Campus coalitions are encouraged to utilize the Strengthening American Democracy Action Planning Guide & Rubric when creating an action plan.
Share Metrics with ALL IN
ALL IN encourages campuses to develop and use data and evaluation metrics to track their progress over time. There are multiple assessment tools available to institutions to support their understanding of the effectiveness of civic engagement programming and student development.
One such option is the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) is a free, nonpartisan and FERPA-compliant study housed at the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University.
Your campus does NOT have to be a part of NSLVE to be a part of the ALL IN program.
Other evaluation tools include: campus voter registration metrics, top-line data from surveys like NSSE or other campus-specific metrics around civic learning and voter participation. You can also check out Campus Compact’s Guide to Institutional Assessment to determine which institutional metric will suit your campus needs best.
Be Recognized
All participating campuses are recognized for joining ALL IN and making a commitment to increasing student voting rates and helping students form the habits of active and engaged citizenship. Campuses with student voting rates of 50% and above will earn seals, and campuses with exemplary efforts will win awards.
